Improving Cashflow and Profitability
Mash are an ambitious promotional and event staffing agency that excel in experiential, corporate event and in-store marketing.
Despite achieving growth year on year growth, the cash was not in the bank to the extent it should be, with no confidence and transparency to their finances - and therefore little in the way of information to help them develop plans to continue to grow and scale the business.
The finance department had consistently underperformed and had lost the confidence of the owners. The first step was getting the right people on board, recruiting a hands-on financial controller. Mentoring the team we implemented financial policies and processes. Once the transactions were processed like a well-oiled machine, we had data with integrity and could develop insightful regular management accounts.
Addressing the working capital, we introduced a process to accelerate the billing cycle and review credit terms. This, along with establishing effective credit control practices and cashflow forecasting, has seen the business not require an overdraft facility for over two years.
Mash has delivered the largest and most profitable year yet. The management have a solid finance team and part-time FD supporting them with all the day-to-day financial information they need to continue to drive the business forward. They sleep well at night knowing there is cash in the bank, the stewardship of the company is good hands and they are positioned to scale through both organic and acquisitive growth.
Having a part time FD as over qualified as Kate has added considerable value to our business, delivering insight in to our finances that has driven our growth strategy, kept us agile and contributed to over 30% growth last year. She is money very well spent for Mash.
